The Kandy Esala Perahera, also known as the Festival of the Tooth, is one of the oldest and grandest Buddhist festivals in the world. Held annually in Kandy, Sri Lanka, this majestic event pays homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. For ten days, the city comes alive with vibrant colors and spiritual energy, attracting thousands of visitors who gather to witness this spectacular display of faith and tradition.

The procession is a breathtaking parade featuring elegant traditional dancers, fire-breathers, and rhythmic drummers. The highlight of the event is the majestic tusker, beautifully adorned in golden fabrics, which carries the golden casket representing the Sacred Relic. Accompanied by dozens of decorated elephants, this ancient ritual beautifully showcases Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and remains a symbol of national pride.
