Christmas Day🌲❄️

 

​Even though I am Buddhist by birth, Christmas Day is my favorite day of the entire year☃️❄️. I am absolutely enchanted by the wonderful sights and scenery that come with the season. Seeing the devotion of Catholic followers and the simple, joyful way they live their lives during this time is truly inspiring.




​I spent my childhood in Negombo, a city famously known as "Little Rome" due to its vibrant Catholic community. Because of this, Christmas has always felt very close to my heart. Another reason for this deep connection is my mother, who is Catholic.

​One of my most beautiful memories is from when I was little; while I was fast asleep, my mother and father would place gifts beside me, making it feel as if Santa Claus himself had brought them. It is a memory I cherish deeply.

​Even though we are a Buddhist family, Christmas became even more special for our little home because my beloved sister’s birthday falls on Christmas Day! This gave us the perfect reason to celebrate🌲❄️.

​My sister's name is Ridmi Tharushika . She is 20 years old and is very beautiful. Although she can be a bit strict at times, she is actually very kind-hearted . ​She is a talented singer and has lovely long hair . In difficult times, she stays by my side and cares for me just like a mother . She has a great love for children, and her future ambition is to become a teacher .   Wearing a pair of Silambu around my ankles fills me with a sense of pride that is truly beyond words. The metallic touch against my skin and the majestic look it adds to my feet instill a deep sense of self-confidence within me. As an artist, I feel it enhances the respect I have for the craft I’ve mastered and the dignity I carry as a young woman inheriting our rich local heritage❤️🥺. The way the rhythmic sound of the Silambu blends with every step I take during a dance brings immense joy to my heart🌸🙏. That melodic chime connects me with the environment around me, breathing a unique life and energy into my performance. Seeing my dedication and hard work bear fruit as I dance on stage to the resonance of the Silambu is an experience that brings me profound mental peace and great fulfillment.
